Madera Canyon, AZ

Madera Canyon, in the rugged Santa Rita Mountains of southeastern Arizona, is home to the greatest variety of hummingbirds in North America. Our base of operation was held at the world-famous Santa Rita Lodge. In addition to hummers, we also photographed several reptile and mammal specimens, a few perching birds and some nocturnal wildlife including bats. Some pictures were obtained at the Sonoran Desert Museum and its Hummingbird aviary. (May, 20143)
