Sonoran Desert

The Sonoran Desert in North American desert large parts of the Southwestern United States (Arizona and California), and Northwestern Mexico, Baja California and Baja California Sur. It is the hottest desert in North America. The Sonoran is rich in  habitats and species. It is the only place in the world where the famous saguaro cactus (Carnegiea gigantea) grows in the wild. Cacti provide food and shelter to many desert mammals and birds, with colorful blooming from late March through June. Images in this portfolio were captures in May of 2014.
